π Chasing the September Moon: Clouds over Skravena and a Moonrise from Vitosha

Late September gave me two very different nights with the moon π. One was restless, with clouds racing across the sky βοΈ. The other was calm and clear, perfect for watching the moon rise over the mountains β°οΈ. I took my camera out both times and came back with a set of photos πΈ and some video footage π₯ that I'm excited to share with you β¨.
βοΈ Clouds over Skravena
The first set of shots comes from Skravena, a quiet village where the night sky is far from the city lights β¨. That evening the sky wouldn't stay still. Clouds kept drifting across the moon, sometimes hiding it completely and sometimes lighting up from behind with a soft silver glow π₯οΈ. Clear nights are good for detail, but nights like this are what bring a scene to life. Every frame came out different, and the video shows how quickly the clouds moved π¨.
β°οΈ Moonrise from Vitosha
For the second part, I went up Vitosha, above Bistritsa, to watch the moon rise over the landscape π. Seeing it from above gives a completely different view. The moon comes up low and large on the horizon, and its colour shifts from warm orange 𧑠to pale white π€ as it climbs. It's a short window, so being in position before it appears is half the work β³.
π Why these nights matter
Catching the moon with moving clouds, or right at the moment it rises, takes timing, patience and a bit of luck with the weather π. Late September gave me all three. Scroll through the photos and watch the footage below π. I hope it gives you a feel for what it was like to be out there π.
